Hangeland Believes He Can Reach An Agreement With Club

According to the Daily Mail, Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is confident he will work out a new deal with the club. He was quoted as saying,

“I’ve said all along I’m happy at Fulham - and I believe we can reach an agreement,’ said Hangeland.

‘They’ve said they’re happy with what I’ve done - and I’m happy with the club. There’s no reason to think otherwise that I’ll be leaving.”

Harry Redknapp Looking To Sign 1 Or 2 This Summer

Bilic Puts Rumors To Rest About Joining Chelsea

According to Chris Quinn at Sky Sports, Slaven Bilic has denied that he is negotiations to become Chelsea’s manager when Guus Hiddink leaves after the season. Bilic was quoted as saying,

“I know and understand the way journalists work … I was in a hotel and saw Frank Arnesen, who was once a great player and now works at Chelsea.”

“Does it mean I’m in negotiations every time I meet someone in Europe?”

Elano Isn’t A Player Who Needs To Be Renegotiated With

UPDATE: According to Elliot Ball at Sky Sports, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is not in any rush to offer midfielder Elano a new deal. Hughes was quoted as saying,

“Elano is not one of those players who we feel we need to renegotiate terms with … But he is having an impact at this moment in time, which we are pleased about.”

April 29th, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, Manchester City midfielder Blumer Elano wants a new contract with the club. He told the official Manchester City magazine,

“This is the end of my second season with City and if it were up to me I would be sat around a table discussing a contract extension right now.”

”I would love to renew my contract at City and remain here for a long time. I love England and I enjoy living in Manchester. I am very happy here.”

Tottenham Linked With Shelvey

According to Football Spy at the Daily Mirror, Tottenham are looking to sign 17-year-old Charlton midfielder Jonjo Shelvey this summer. The deal could be worth around £3million.

Tottenham have sent out assistant manager Kevin Bond to check out the young starlet.

Newcastle and Fulham are also being linked with Shelvey.

Manchester United Pushing To Sign Kaka?

According to the Daily Mail, intermediaries of Manchester United are planning to meet in Milan to talk numbers to possibly try and lure AC Milan midfielder Kaka away.

Manchester City and Real Madrid have both been linked with Kaka and Chelsea is mentioned as having interest.

Liverpool Rumors: Benayoun, Agger, Alonso

According to Sky Sports, Rafa Benitez plans on talking to striker Yossi Benayoun about a new deal with the club. Benitez told The Independent,

“I think if he is happy, then he will be okay here … We’ve had no real approaches for him …Now he is playing more games, has more confidence and you can see the quality that he has.”

“I have to talk to him [about a new contract] but he is contracted for another two years.”

When asked about contract talks with Daniel Agger, Benitez said: “I think that we are closer.”

Also, according to James Dall at Sky Sports, Xabi Alonso’s agent hinted that Alonso might depart to play for Juventus. Ernesto Bronzetti was quoted as saying,

“I would try to bring in Alonso. There was a long chase last summer for his signature, of course, so it is a road we know … Pairing him with (former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed) Sissoko would be a title-winning midfield.”

“The problem is that it would be very hard and expensive to take such an important player away from Liverpool.”

Liverpool Might Need To Sell Before Buying This Summer

According to David Maddock at the Daily Mirror, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admitted that he might have to sell to raise funds to buy certain players this summer. He was quoted as saying,

“I have an idea of who we want, but maybe we need to sell someone to increase what I already have to spend … Every year it is important to sign good players, the right players, and this year even more so.”

Maddock states that Ryan Babel is likely to leave, Daniel Agger might leave to play in Italy, and Andriy Voronin could make his loan move to Hertha Berlin permanent.

Several targets of Liverpool include: Gareth Barry, David Silva, and Raul Albiol.

Shevchenko To Return To Chelsea?

According to Vince Masiello at Goal.com, Andriy Shevchenko will return to Chelsea after the season. His agent Fabio Parisi told Calciomercato.it,

“Shevchenko is on loan at Milan from Chelsea and I believe he will go back to London.”

“Truth be told, I don’t think the Rossoneri will decide to keep him. I don’t know anything about the rapport between ‘Sheva’ and his team-mates and [coach Carlo] Ancelotti. The thing is that he is on loan and, considering what happened this season, he will return to Chelsea.”

“It remains to be seen whether he will remain at Chelsea, though … It depends on their new coach and what he wants to do. It’s unlikely he will rescind his contract and I doubt he will move back to Italy this summer. It’s up to him to decide.”

West Bromwich Looking To Extend Deal Of Martis

“It’s nothing that needs to be done urgently but as far as I am concerned there is no decision to make other than saying we will pick up Shelton’s year option.”

“He is a young footballer in terms of experience and the signs are there that that penny is dropping and that he understands the maturity required to play for our team.”

April 23rd, 2009 According to John Cross at the Daily Mirror, Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o has turned down a £35 million move to Manchester City. Eto’o has only 14 months left on his current deal. A pal of Eto’o was quoted as saying,

“Samuel is happy at Barcelona and, despite the interest from England, he wants to stay.”

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have been watching Deportivo La Coruna footballer Julian De Guzman. De Guzman was quoted as saying,

“The (Premier) League is one of the best in the world and if something interesting comes along I will have to consider it … I cannot rule anything out.”

“My agent is working on this and I know there are clubs who have been asking about me, but we have nothing concrete on the table.”

“I know they (Tottenham) have been watching me in games, but I have not spoken with anyone. I am just going to give everything in the final part of the season.”

Sao Paolo Dismisses Talks With Tottenham & Miranda

UPDATE: According to Jon Cotterill at Sky Sports, Sao Paolo denied having any talks with Tottenham over defender Miranda. Sao Paulo’s director of football Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes was quoted as saying,

“We’ve heard nothing. Not an offer or an enquiry … I think it’s strange that this came up now the [transfer] window is closed and it doesn’t make sense.”

“This value is ridiculous. If anyone comes here with this offer, they will have wasted their trip.”

April 23rd, 2009 According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are considering making a £7 million bid for Sao Paolo defender Joao Miranda de Souza. The Brazilian was quoted as saying,

Gianfranco Zola Signs New Deal Along With Assistant Clarke

UPDATE: According to Rob Carragher at Sky Sports, West Ham United managers Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke signed new deals with the club. The deal is thought to be for four years.

April 23rd, 2009 According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have offered assistant boss Steve Clarke a contract extension. Clarke was quoted as saying,

“We have had good discussions but I have only just arrived and already they are talking about extending so it means we have done something right.

“Discussions are ongoing but it will be sorted when it is sorted. There is no great rush to do anything. I signed here for almost three years and I will have two years left come the summer, so there is no rush. There is no rush on my side or the side of the club.”
