According to Neil Mcleman at the Daily Mirror, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis hinted that boss Arsene Wenger might be willing change his transfer policy. Gazidis said,

“The idea Arsene Wenger is some stubborn guy not open to having his ideas challenged and there’s nobody who can say ‘listen we need someone with experience in the middle of the park or at the back’ just isn’t true.”

“He asks questions of himself all the time. He doesn’t believe he has all the answers.”

Aston Villa Boss Unsure Of Summer Transfer Budget

According to Bill Howell at the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill is unsure how much he will have to spend due to the credit crunch. O’Neill said,

“The short answer is I don’t know and I’m not sure anybody really knows until it pans out,” he said. “I’ve been talking to other managers about the same thing.”

“Then, just when you think everything is in reasonable shape with reasonable prices, someone goes and breaks it and the whole thing goes haywire again.”

UPDATE: According to Richard Bailey at Sky Sports, Bojan Krkic’s agent stated that the striker is not going anywhere despite interest from Blackburn.

May 13th, 2009 According to Martin Blackburn at The Sun, Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce wants to acquire Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic on loan. A Senior Rovers source supposedly said,

“We heard he could be available and are starting to think about next season now our Premier League place is all but secured … Sam has worked with big-name stars before and would like to do so again with Rovers.”

Chelsea Rumors: Quaresma, Shevchenko

According to The Sun, Chelsea are planning on sending winger Ricardo Quaresma back to Inter Milan when his loan deal is up.

Also according to The Sun, Dyanamo Kiev are interested in signing striker Andriy Shevchenko. The Chelsea striker is currently on loan at AC Milan. Kiev president Igor Surkis said,

“For such a player, our doors will always be open … Andriy wants to continue to play at a high level — and we can give him this chance.”

Steve Bruce: It’s Inevitable That Antonio Will Leave

According to Martin Blackburn at The Sun, Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce admitted that Antonio Valencia will be leaving the club. Bruce said,

“It’s inevitable Antonio will leave — but where he goes I’m not quite sure … There have been no deals done at all … I keep reading that story — but nothing’s been done.”

Manchester United and Liverpool are both thought to be interested in Valencia.

Manchester City Close To Extension With Stephen Ireland

According to ESPN Soccernet, Manchester City are close to signing midfielder Stephen Ireland to a new, extended contract. Boss Mark Hughes said,

”We are very close with Stephen … We had good discussions with him last week and there is intent on both sides.”

”We want Stephen to be here for a considerable length of time and he has come out himself and said he wants to spend most of his career here, which was very heartening from our point of view.”

”As long as there are no hiccups, and I don’t anticipate there will be, it will get done very quickly.”

Roque Santa Cruz Wants To Leave Blackburn

UPDATE: According to Richard Bailey at Sky Sports, Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz would not mind leaving the club. He told Paraguayan radio station 970 AM,

“I would not mind moving on, if it was a big team and if the conditions were right … People are interested in what is going to happen to players next season. Rumours come from somewhere, but there is nothing official.”

The striker has been linked with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham.

May 1st, 2009 According to John Cross at the Daily Mirror, Arsenal will sell striker Emmanuel Adebayor if the price is right. Then they will go after Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz to replace him.

April 28th, 2009 According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are going to step up their interest in going after Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz has been linked with Manchester City many times before.

Nottingham Forest Want Gunter Permanently Or On Loan Again

According to Chris Burton at Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies is interested in permanently signing Tottenham defender Chris Gunter, who is currently on loan at the club.

If a permanent deal cannot be worked out, Davies would like to sign him on a long-term loan.

Tevez’s Agent: Man United Are Lying About Offer

UPDATE: According to Graeme Bailey at Sky Sports, Carlos Tevez’s agent Kia Joorabchian said Manchester United have not made an offer to Tevez. He said,

“We actually have not had any offer for Carlos, no offers for personal terms for Carlos … I had a chat with David Gill, we had a meeting but no offer was made to Carlos.”

May 13th, 2009 According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have started talking with striker Carlos Tevez about a permanent deal. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said,

“I have had a chat with him today. David Gill has had some meetings today and it has progressed, I’m sure, further.”

“We hope we get what we want to get. I’m sorry to have to keep on with this all the time, but it has never changed.”

“We are not negotiating with a football club, that is the problem … I think Carlos himself is okay. I think the terms he has been offered are good.”
