UPDATE: According to Everton’s official website, Everton have signed Tim Howard, Joseph Yobo, and Phil Jagielka to new deals.

June 1st, 2009 According to Football Spy at the Daily Mirror, Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is set to sign a new five-year deal with the club within the next few days. The contract is said to be around £10million.

Chelsea Deny Making Bid For Kaka

UPDATE: According to Chelsea’s official website, Chelsea have not made any bid for Kaka. A statement was made saying,

‘We have never made an offer to AC Milan for Kaka and therefore not one at this extraordinary level. As a consequence we have not discussed a salary with the player either. Any reports to the contrary are totally untrue.’

June 3rd, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea have made a £73.5million bid for AC Milan midfielder Kaka. This comes a day after Real Madrid reportedly made a £56million bid for Kaka.

Official: Sunderland Sign Steve Bruce

UPDATE: According to Sunderland’s official website, Sunderland have signed former Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce. Bruce signed a deal with the club that will keep him there until 2012.

June 1st, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, it looks as if Sunderland has agreed to pay the £3m compensation for Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce. The two clubs are now thought to be discussing the personal terms.

May 31st, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, Sunderland made an offer to coach Roberto Mancini. Mancini told Sky Italia,

“I am honoured to have had an offer from Sunderland Football Club. It is a fantastic opportunity … It will be truly wonderful to lead such a prestigious and historic club in England after a year of sitting on the sidelines.”

“I feel I am ready to start again with immense enthusiasm.”

According to BBC Sport, Wigan Athletic chairman David Whelan wants £3million for coach Steve Bruce. He said,

“I’ve asked for £3m in compensation, but I don’t want to lose Steve … Talks are in progression and I’ve asked for a compensation fee because I think it’s only fair that they buy out his contract.”

“I paid Birmingham £3m so I’m asking for the same amount back … There’s a lot of managers who you can get for free and it depends whether they feel they want to pay £3m.”

“But if they want a real quality manager, Steve is up there among the best.”

“Manchester City is quite high up on the list … They want to play internationally and I should help them achieve that goal.”

“I don`t know anything about the rumours and I insist that I have a contract with Valencia that I wish to fulfill.”

May 13th, 2009 According to David Maddock at the Daily Mirror, Liverpool made a £15million take-it-or-leave-it offer for Valencia midfielder David Silva.

May 13th, 2009 According to Francisco Acedo at Sky Sports, David Silva’s agent Jose Segui admitted that clubs are interested in David Silva although any decision to leave will be made by Valencia. Segui said,

“At this time it is normal there are many stories in the papers about transfers, but the decision depends on Valencia.””It is certain that some clubs have asked about the boy, but he has a deal with Valencia and he is happy in the city.”

“I am available for a club who wishes to have me … But before being approached, an agreement must be found with Chelsea, although I am delighted that several clubs are interested in me.”

“I have had four extraordinary years at Chelsea till this year, which has not been very good, indeed the worst of my career. I wasn’t in great shape because I haven’t played … But if there is no transfer, I will be fine at Chelsea.”

Hughes Admits It Might Be Best To Send Out Hart On-Loan

“Joe is frustrated and obviously wants to play. We will look at his situation in the coming weeks and it might be to both Joe’s and the club’s benefit if he did go out on loan.”

“He’d be playing on a regular basis and, given his ability, he would no doubt improve his standing in the game and help his development and value to the club, so a loan is something we’ll seriously think about.”

“I’m a bit tired of speaking about my future because every time I stop people ask me about this. I have one more year here, I’m happy at Chelsea.”

“I’m not worried about my age or the decision of the club. I’m just worried about being happy in my life and at the moment I’m really happy where I am.”

UPDATE: According to ESPN Soccernet, Birmingham have completed the signing of Santos Laguna striker Cristian Benitez.

Although the fee is undisclosed, they believe it will be around £9million. Benitez will undergo a physical next week.

May 30th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Birmingham have made an official offer for Santos Laguna striker Cristian Benitez. Benitez’s advisor Barry McIntosh said,

“Birmingham has made an official offer for the player, who is one of the most talented players in South America and, at the moment, is playing his trade in the professional league in Mexico for Santos Laguna,”

“Naturally, the offer from Birmingham is being seriously considered, but in the past 24 hours there has been a number of other interested parties in England who are looking to up their bid to secure the player.”

PSV Eindhoven, Villarreal, and Wigan Athletic are all being linked with Benitez. However Wigan boss Steve Bruce he would not “pay over the odds” for Benitez.

Huntelaar has supposedly been unhappy at the club after they decided to choose Diarra instead of him to play in the Champions League.

Nani Says Future Is At Man United

“My future is at Manchester United, of course … It is a privilege to be at a club like this … I won one more title (last season) and I am very happy to have won it for these two consecutive years.”

“I was born to play football and I feel fine, although I did not play much. I will not leave Manchester United, nor will I be loaned out … I will see out my contract.”
