UPDATE: According to Robin Hackett at Setanta Sports, West Bromwich defender Jonas Olsson said that he never said he would be leaving and that there was a mistake in the translation. Olsson said,

“The quotes that have appeared on the internet have not been correctly translated from a Swedish newspaper I spoke to … I never said anything about wanting to leave West Brom. What I actually said is that once you’ve tasted The Premier League, you want to keep playing there.”

“I have heard there are a few clubs discussing my name but I leave that to my agent, Martin Dahlin … I said that I am on vacation in June and that I don’t want to think about it right now. I’ll see what happens when I get back from my holiday.”

“It is every player’s ambition to take another step, regardless of where they’re playing, but I stressed to the Swedish newspaper that I like the club … I definitely didn’t say I would be leaving.”

June 4th, 2009 According to Robin Hackett at Setanta Sports, Aston Villa are being linked with West Bromwich defender Jonas Olsson. Everton, Blackburn, and Bolton are also thought to be interested. Olsson told Fotbolls Expressen,

“I have heard that there are a few clubs talking about me, but it is my agent, Martin Dahlin, who will deal with the issue … It is flattering – I have got the taste for The Premier League now.”

“I will leave in June … We will see what happens when I return [from holiday] with the transfer window open … I like the club and the city but, without showing any disrespect to me team, this is the reality.”

June 2nd, 2009 According to Ricky Brooks at Goal.com, Wolverhampton are close to signing Nenad Milijas from Red Star Belgrade. Zoran Stojadinovic, Milijas’ agent, told B92,

“We’re very close to sealing the deal with Wolverhampton … Milijas took his time to decide where are the best conditions to play and to live - and that’s England.”

Hull Considering Signing Manucho Permanently

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City boss Phil Brown is considering signing Manchester United striker Manucho permanently. Manucho joined the club on-loan back in January. Brown said,

“There’s mileage in Manucho but how much there is would depend on how much he would cost us … He’s 6ft 4ins, he’s got an eye for goal, he’s got pace and he’s got an awareness in the penalty box.”
