Espinoza Awaiting Visa To Complete Deal
UPDATE: According to Andy Walker at Birmingham Mail, Barcelona Sporting Club defender Giovanny Espinoza has agreed to join Birmingham and is now just waiting for a work permit. Espinzoa has agreed to a two-year deal with the club. His agent Jorge Guerrero said,
“We are just working on a visa for Espinoza and we also have to wait for Ecuador’s match with Argentina … As soon as Birmingham were promoted to the Premier League, we were waiting for the call.”
“I know that Espinoza is really happy and his family are also very happy to be moving from Ecuador to Birmingham … He is a great player and is the captain of his club at the moment, he’s the best player in their team but the chance to play in the Premier League is a dream for him.”
June 6th, 2009 According to Andy Walker at the Birmingham Post, Birmingham is looking to sign another South American player, which seems to be Giovanny Espinoza. Co-owner David Sullivan said,
“We’re hoping to sign a few more players from South America in the next two to three weeks. We’ve worked harder in the last three weeks than we’ve worked at anything … People don’t know what is going on behind the scenes, this has been going on 18 hours a day for about ten days.”
“Myself and Karren Brady in particular have worked on this (the Benitez) deal and we’re working on about another ten or 15 other deals. We won’t get them all, we know that but we hope to land three or four of them.”
June 4th, 2009 According to James Nursey at the Daily Mirror, Birmingham are interested in Barcelona Sporting Club defender Giovanny Espinoza.
Boss Alex McLeish is planning on scouting Espinoza when he plays for Ecuador against Argentina.
