UPDATE: According to ESPN Soccernet, Dynamo Kiev made an offer to Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko. Kiev president Ihor Surkis told Reuters in a phone interview,

“We’ve made a proposal to Andriy to return to Dynamo as a player and then, after his retirement, to become part of the coaching staff … His reaction to this proposal was very positive. Everything now depends strictly on him.”

June 22nd, 2009 According to Tom Adams at Setanta Sports, Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko admitted that he will report to Chelsea’s summer trainings. However he also admitted that if he is to leave, then Roma would be his desired destination. He told Corriere dello Sport,

“On 9th July I’ll go to a summer training camp with Chelsea, then we will see what happens … I’ve spoken with the coach and we will hold a meeting when training starts. I have another year left with Chelsea and I want to respect and honour that deal.”

“Should it not be possible to continue my career at Chelsea, then Roma would be top of my wish list.”

UPDATE: According to Chelsea’s official website, Chelsea have signed free agent striker Daniel Sturridge who played for Manchester City last season. Sturridge signed a four-year deal with the club.

June 23rd, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are set to sign Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge when he becomes a free agent this summer.

However Chelsea will have to pay compensation for Sturridge as he is under the age of 24 (19). The fee could be in the region of £5million.

May 25th, 2009 According to Sky Sports, contract talks between Manchester City and striker Daniel Sturridge are at a “stalemate.” The 19-year-old will become a free agent if an agreement is not reached. Boss Mark Hughes said,

“We have made an offer which is a good offer for Daniel at this stage of his career and that was refused a couple of weeks back”

“Where we are at the moment needs a shift in position from his advisors.”

According to Chelsea’s official website, Chelsea have rejected a bid from Manchester City for defender John Terry. A statement of the site said,

“Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has completely rejected an offer from Manchester City for John Terry.

It was made clear to City, for the second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject.

At that time John also reiterated his total commitment to Chelsea.”
