Official: Wigan Athletic Sign James McCarthy
UPDATE: According to Wigan Athletic’s official website, Wigan Athletic have signed James McCarthy from Hamilton Academicals. McCarthy signed a five-year deal with the club.
July 16th, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, Wolverhampton have agreed to a fee for Hamilton teenager James McCarthy. The deal is reported to be over £2million.
July 2nd, 2009 According to Ed Hodge at The Scotsman, Hamilton manager Billy Reid confirmed Burnley are interested in midfielder James McCarthy. He said,
“I don’t deny Burnley have made enquiries about James, but it’s not right for us at the minute. We know how important an asset he is to us.”
“There has always been interest in James, it’s the nature of the game, and we keep him informed at all times … But I expect to see him at the start of pre-season training next week.”
June 30th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Burnley had a bid of £750,000 rejected by Hamilton for midfielder James McCarthy.
