According to the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City boss Phil Brown hopes striker Alvaro Negredo will be at their game tomorrow to watch and hopefully begin talks. He said,

“We’re hoping that he’ll be at the game tomorrow night … I can’t make a comment on speculation from Spain, we haven’t heard anything … There will always be a concern until the deal is done but we’re hopeful.”

According to John Cross at Mirror Football, Hull City are set to miss out on Alvaro Negredo as he will join Spanish side Real Zaragoza.

“I hope we get Pizarro … Basically, we are considering where we can strengthen our team and what players can help us with their quality in the long term.”

“But we can only do what we can afford. We are doing all we can, but if we cannot sign any more players, then I cannot change it either.”

August 15th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson admitted that Newcastle midfielder Damien Duff has traveled to London to undergo a medical for the club. He said,

“I think he’s been allowed to come down and he’s having a medical … If all goes well I’m hoping the details will be finalised both on his personal contract and the details between ourselves and Newcastle.”

“I’m hoping that will be finalised at the beginning of next week and, all being well, I’ll be able to tell you he’s a Fulham player next week.”

“Until it’s completed, it’s better to be prudent, but I’m very hopeful we’ll have Damien with us.”

August 14th, 2009 According to Mirror Football, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson hopes to sign Newcastle midfielder Damien Duff after making a £4million bid for him. Hodgson said,

“Damien is a player that interests us. The clubs are talking and we hope a deal goes through … Damien and I go back a long way from when we worked together at Blackburn. He wants to come back to west London.”

“He had injury problems at Chelsea but has done well at Newcastle given the turmopil there … And every time he’s played for Ireland he’s consistently been one of their best performers.”

According to Swansea City’s official website, Swansea City have rejected a bid from Wigan Athletic for midfielder Ferrie Bodde. Chairman Huw Jenkins said,

“Not only have we rejected the bid, but it’s an offer we wouldn’t even think twice about considering … In fact, the way it is structured - over such a long period of time and appearance related - it doesn’t even constitute an offer.”

“It certainly doesn’t come anywhere near our valuation, especially when we have no intention of losing him … Ferrie and his agent are well aware of Wigan’s interest. In fact, we have been speaking about a new deal for a number of weeks.”

“The talks have been extremely positive and once Ferrie is fit and playing again then we’ll be trying to tie him down to Swansea for the next few years.”

“I have made an enquiry, but he is one of a number of players we have made an enquiry about … I made it to Reading and that is in the public domain, for whatever reason, but we will have to see how that goes.”

“If we were going to be talking about every player we had been linked with, or made a general enquiry about, then it would get quite tiresome.”
