£70.7 Million Spent On Agent Fees Last Season

According to ESPN Soccernet, the 20 English Premier League teams combined to spend £70.7million on agent fees last season (counting the January and summer transfer windows). Some of the big spenders were:

Manchester City: Almost £13 million

Chelsea: £9.5 million

Liverpool: £6.7 million

Tottenham: £6.1 million

According to Alan Nixon at MirrorFootball, Everton boss David Moyes is interested in PSV Eindhoven striker Danko Lazovic. Moyes reportedly sent Robbie Cooke to scout the Serbian striker this past weekend.

Roman Pavlyuchenko Updates

According to Simone Bargellini at Sky Sports News, the agent of Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko stated that he will be meeting with the leaders of Roma. Oliver Wendt told romagiallorossa.com,

“Roman wants to leave London and wants to go to Rome … If Tottenham clears, Roman could be a player of AS Roma. Today or tomorrow I will meet leaders of Roma and we will discuss about it … I have had contact with them even last week and they have shown real interest.”

According to Ashley Gray at the Daily Mail, Zenit St Petersburg are set to make Luciano Spalletti their new manager. It is reported that his first order of business will be to go after striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Bayern Munich Dismiss Link With Ryan Babel

According to Pa Sports at MirrorFootball, Bayern Munich director of sport Christian Nerlinger denied that the club is interested in Liverpool footballer Ryan Babel. Nerlinger told the German Telekom’s Liga total television channel,

“I don’t know anything about it and so you can take it for granted that there is no truth in it.”

Rosicky Wants To Stay A Gunner

UPDATE: According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky would like to stay with the club. He said,

“The situation has not changed … The boss told me he wants me to stay, I would like to stay as well, so we will see.”

November 22nd, 2009 According to Tom Hopkinson at The People, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted that the club is in talks to extend the contracts of Tomas Rosicky, William Gallas, and Carlos Vela. He said,

“We are speaking with Tomas and William, and I am optimistic to find a solution for both of them … We’ve had no offers for Carlos and we are extending his contract at the moment.”

Rosicky and Gallas are currently in the last year of their contracts.

Ryan Giggs To Be Offered New Deal

Nottingham Wants Shorey Permanently

According to Pa Sports at MirrorFootball, Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies would like to permanently sign Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey. Davies said,

“We’ve signed him for 28 days and after that point we’ll try and sit down and negotiate with Aston Villa with regards to extending the loan or, fingers crossed, trying to conclude a permanent deal.”

Chelsea Might Not Sign Anybody

According to Richard Bailey at Sky Sports News, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the club might not buy anybody this January if they continue to stay healthy. Ancelotti said,

“All the players are in good condition … If we maintain this we will sign nobody.”

November 23rd, 2009 According to Rick D’Andrea at Goal.com, Sampdoria director Giuseppe Marotta admitted that the club would like to hold onto Giampaolo Pazzini. He told Sampdorianews.net,

“Giampaolo is second on the goalscoring ladder … And this is most pleasing … The interest from clubs across the Channel is somewhere in the middle between what was written, and what has actually occurred … We have not spoken to anyone, and will hold onto him very tightly.”

November 21st, 2009 According to Salvatore Landolina at Goal.com, La Gazzetta Dello Sport is reporting that Arsenal are interested in Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini and are willing to offer €18million. However Sampdoria supposedly want at least €25million for him.

Nicolas Anelka Wants New Contract

“I hope to sign a new contract soon. I am very happy at Chelsea. I have found a home …Ever since I left Real Madrid, I wanted to find a big club again and I have with Chelsea … It is a big club with big players …I feel I am playing the best football of my career and want to carry on playing my best days with Chelsea.”

West Ham United Consider Selling Green

Nemeth Would Consider Permanent Stay At AEK Athens

According to Juha Pal at Sky Sports News, Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth would consider permanently staying at AEK Athens if he gets the chance. Nemeth said,

“The fans keep telling me that AEK is a great club … They’re really impressive and certainly more enthusiastic than Liverpool’s. What I experienced at the derby with Olympiakos (in which Nemeth scored) was something that I’ve never felt before.”

“I really wondered what the fans would be able to do if we performed better in the league. I think that if Liverpool and AEK work something out, I’d be extremely thoughtful about staying in Athens permanently.”

Sir Alex Ferguson Not Selling Nani

According to RivalsDM at Fox Sports, Sunday Mirror is reporting that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson does not plan on selling Nani. Ferguson said,

“Some big clubs have been mentioned for Nani, like Milan and Benfica, but there has been no contact made with us - and we wouldn’t entertain selling him anyway … He is only 23. If someone came in for Nani in January we would tell him that he is going absolutely nowhere.”

“He’s a young boy and he wants to play - and he might get a chance against Spurts in the Carling Cup this week.”

Micah Richards Not Leaving City This January

According to ESPN Soccernet, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes stated that defender Micah Richards will not be leaving the club in January. Hughes said,

“Micah Richards is not going anywhere in January … He is a big part of what we are trying to do here and we know he can improve. Don’t forget, he is still a very young man … His football experience is great for someone of so few years and sometimes he doesn’t get enough credit for that. But he is nowhere near the finished article. There is a huge amount of potential still to be tapped into.”

Tottenham was rumored to be interested in the young defender.

Novakovic Not Interested In Portsmouth

“I don’t know a lot about Russian offers and Portsmouth is also not the club we are interested in … But yes, it is true, something was happening on this relation (Portsmouth) but nothing happened … We are only interested in the biggest clubs in England and Germany.”

Pavluchenko’s Agent Visiting London To Negotiate Exit

UPDATE: According to Rob Draper at the Mail on Sunday, Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko admitted that he wants to leave the club and that his agents are coming to London to work something out. He said,

“I have never had such a black period in my life … Russia’s failure was a continuation of a catastrophic 2009. I only sit on the bench for my club and now it did not work for the national team, either. ”

“I can only hope that January will bring changes in my life. Naturally, I mean moving clubs. My agents are coming to London this week to negotiate it.”

November 23rd, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp would like to hold onto striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. He said,

“I don’t want to sell Roman Pavlyuchenko. Technically he’s a fantastic talent but he keeps saying he wants to go … He’s got great ability but he wants to play regularly but it’s been difficult with (Jermain) Defoe, (Peter) Crouch and (Robbie) Keane all doing well. It’s unlucky for him.”

November 21st, 2009 According to Carl Long at The Sun, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted that he will not sell striker Roman Pavlyuchenko cheap. He said,

“If he’s not happy and somebody wants to pay the right money for him then something might happen. But he won’t be leaving here cheaply.”

November 19th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, the agent of Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko admitted that Roma are interested in his client. Oliver Wendt told romagiallorossa.com:

“It is true, yesterday Daniele Prade was in London to better understand the situation of Pavlyuchenko but we don’t know the real intentions of the Giallorossi … However, the player will surely leave Tottenham as he wanted to leave them this summer.”

“It is a feasible piece of business with Roma, but we need to see the needs of the two clubs in question. Roman would be willing to transfer to the Italian capital.”

November 18th, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko would love to return to Spartak Moscow if he is given the chance. He told Sportbox,

“I have a huge desire to return … If I receive a good offer, I’ll be sure to accept it. Spartak has a place in my heart, always.”

“In my first year in England, I played consistently, scored goals and was successful with the national team. I had an insight into English football and learned a lot. It was a good, if not completely positive, experience and will be helpful for the future, so I have no regrets, but the current situation doesn’t suit me.”

It is reported that Newcastle are not interested in selling off its players but they are rumored to be interested in Sunderland winger Kieran Richardson. A swap of both players is a possibility as they are both valued around the same price.

Larsson Would Like To Sign A New Deal At Birmingham

According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham midfielder Sebastian Larsson would like to sign a new deal with the club. His current deal expires after the season although the club has a one year option. Larsson said,

“All I have said all along is that it’s up to the club now to let me know what they want to do, then we will see what happens … If we can agree on something then I am more than happy to sign a new deal. But it’s one thing just saying it, you need to start talking and agree something.”

“I’m not worried about it. There is a lot of new stuff I suppose for the owners and the board to deal with, we will see … With the old board there was a contract offer a while ago which was never signed (after relegation) and then there was not much happening until the end, when they left, and it was put on hold.”

“Now there are new owners and we will have to wait and see what they want to do … Progress had been made, yes. We weren’t 100 per cent there, but we were close to each other than we were before.”
