“I am not injured, I am training hard, and I am keen to play, but I don’t play, it is very annoying … I want a change, I want a new and real challenge.”

Wolves Boss Happy With Squad The Way It Is

According to Andy Walker at the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton boss Mick McCarthy is happy with his current squad and does not seem like he will rush into signing anybody. McCarthy said,

“I don’t know what business other clubs will do and maybe we can’t do anything. I’m delighted with the squad I’ve got and I still think they will finish above three other teams.”

Daniel Cousin Does Not Want To Leave Hull City

“Daniel doesn’t want to go anywhere and he is desperate to win his place back into the starting line-up … He wants to be given the chance to prove his worth to the team.”

UPDATE: According to Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham are on the brink of signing Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel despite recent reports that he was not for sale.

December 31st, 2009 According to Francisco Acedo at Sky Sports News, Sporting Gijon are not going to sell midfielder Michel despite strong interest from Birmingham. Club president Manuel Vega Arango said,

“We are a modest club and our ambition is to remain competitive in the Primera Liga … If we damage the squad with the sale of important players, that could have a negative impact on our future in the top flight.”

December 23rd, 2009 According to James Nursey at MirrorFootball, Birmingham have agreed to pay £2.5million for Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel. Michel has agreed to a three-and-a-half year deal worth £15,000-a-week.

December 18th, 2009 According to Colin Tattum at Birmingham Mail, Birmingham are getting closer to agreeing to a deal with Sporting Gijon for midfielder Michel.

Birmingham were close to signing Michel in the summer for £2.6million but the deal fell through.

According to The Bolton News, Bolton have put their transfer business on hold until they sign a new coach. Assistant manager Chris Evans said,

“I’m sure, as the previous manager thought, that the incoming manager will feel that we need freshening up in certain areas … But right now we are only a day or so into the new change, so we’ll concentrate on the football.”

Bolton have been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Guti in the past few weeks.

Arsenal Boss Confirms He Is Not Going After Huntelaar

According to Arsenal’s official website, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not going after AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Wenger said,

“No [I am not in for him],” said the manager. “I am surprised he never plays but he is not on our radar … [Anyway] I don’t believe that this kind of player can move. I am not sure [he] can move again in this transfer period because he has moved already once this season.”

Malouda Unhappy With Playing Time, Might Leave Team

According to ESPN Soccernet, Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda is unhappy with his playing time during the big games and might consider leaving the club after the season. Malouda told L’Equipe,

“Before the match against Birmingham, I talked to the coach to tell him about my frustration … I still manage to be good when I play. With the rotation system I will play my 50 matches a season. The frustration is above all for the big games. I’m ready to look elsewhere. Finding another club is not a problem.”

“But the club has closed the door to any departure, whether it be in January or in June. The coach is counting on me. We’ll see from now until the end of the season.”

Rafa Benitez Working Hard To Sign New Players

According to Sky Sports News, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is working hard to bring in new faces this month. When asked if he would buy someone to replace the injured Glen Johnson, Benitez said,

“Yes, we are working hard (on transfers) and trying to do our jobs, and we’ll see if we can do something … We are looking in the market but it’s not easy to find good players available because the majority of them are playing in top sides. But we are trying to find solutions if we can.”
