UPDATE: According to Sky Sports News, Fiorentina are having a hard time agreeing to a personal deal with Emiliano Insua due to his wage demands. Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino told Quotidianopuglia.it,

“We have an agreement with the English club, but we have to find an understanding with the player in terms of wages … We cannot guarantee him the figures that he gets at Liverpool.”

July 17th, 2010:: According to Liverpool’s official website, Fiorentina have agreed to a deal for Liverpool defender Emiliano Insua. Insua will travel to Italy to work out a personal deal.

July 11th, 2010: According to Mike Barton at Sky Sports News, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson confirmed Fiorentina’s interest in Emiliano Insua. Hodgson told Radio Blu,

“I saw him play in the last three days and I like him both as a player and on a personal level … However, talks with Fiorentina started before I got here, so I don’t know how advanced they are … I cannot say if Insua will stay at Liverpool or not. I’ll have to discuss that with the club.”

July 7th, 2010: According to MirrorFootball, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is looking to go after Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa if he is able to sell defender Emiliano Insua for £5million. Fiorentina is reportedly interested in Insua.

According to Real Vallecano’s official website (link in spanish), Real Vallecano have signed Wigan Athletic defender Antonio Amaya on a season-long loan.

UPDATE: According to Sunderland’s official website, Sunderland have completed the signing of Titus Bramble for an undisclosed fee. Bramble signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2013.

July 21st, 2010 According to Luke Edwards at the Evening Chronicle, Sunderland are on the verge of signing Wigan Athletic defender Titus Bramble. Bramble took the first part of his medical last night and it is reported that the deal is worth less than £2million.

According to Wigan Athletic’s official website, Wigan Athletic have finally completed the signing of defender Antolin Alcaraz after he was awarded a work permit. Alcaraz signed a three-year deal with the club.

According to the Wigan Observer, Wigan Athletic are willing to let midfielder Oliver Kapo leave after the 29-year-old expressed his desire to leave. Manager Roberto Martinez said,

“Olivier has expressed a desire to play in France, and we will not try and change his mind.”

According to Paul Kendrick at the Evening Post, Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez admitted that the contract of newly signed defender Antolin Alcaraz is done and completed. It was reported earlier this summer that Alcaraz’s contract wasn’t completed and that he could join a different team after the World Cup. Martinez said,

“Antolin signed a contract with Wigan Athletic, he’s a Wigan Athletic player and that’s the end of it as far as I’m concerned … If he had wanted to wait until after the World Cup, he wouldn’t have signed his contract. He would have waited … I do know that he’s eager to get things sorted out and arrive here in Wigan.

“Antolin had an interview back in his homeland, and the translation of that didn’t really reflect what he was talking about or what he meant … What he said in the interview was that he doesn’t know for sure where he is going to be until he receives his work permit … We need to make sure we get everything sorted now – and we will do.”

According to Paul Kendrick at the Evening Post, Wigan Athletic midfielder Daniel de Ridder admitted that he would love to stay with the club if he gets regular playing time. De Ridder said,

“I would love to stay here at Wigan – but only if I am playing regularly … That’s what every player wants and that’s my only goal at the moment … I will be speaking to Roberto, and whatever comes out of that chat will make the situation a bit clearer for myself. Then we’ll make the right decision for all parties.

UPDATE: According to BBC Sports, Hamburg have beaten Wigan to the signing of Lenny Sowah. Sowah signed on a free transfer but the club will have to pay a compensation fee.

“My chance has not come. If I want to play this season a move looks to be the right solution … That aspect is playing a role in choosing the Israeli league. Yes, I can speak Hebrew but more important is that Hapoel Tel Aviv is the current runner-up to Maccabi Haifa and still plays in the Europa League.”

January 14th, 2010 According to Stefan Coerts at Goal.com, Hapoel Tel Aviv are interested in signing Wigan Athletic midfielder Daniel De Ridder. Hapoel Tel Aviv president Amir Lublin said,

“Negotiations with Wigan Athletic are still ongoing and there’s still a chance that we’ll sign De Ridder … However, things are not going easy. Negotiations with the player aren’t too difficult, but Wigan aren’t exactly cooperating so far. We want to sign De Ridder on a loan deal and are willing to pay the player’s wages.”

According to Richard Torgerson at Sky Sports News, Wigan Athletic defender Erik Edman would like to join Sheffield United on loan. His agent Allan Bak Jensen told Aftonbladet,

“There has been a big interest from Dutch clubs and recently Erik turned down a big German club that wanted to take him on loan till this summer … Sheffield United would suit Erik really good. The club has expressed a big interest in loaning Edman.”
