According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton are set to sign Birmingham striker Marcus Bent on loan until January 4th. There is still some paperwork left to complete before the deal becomes official.

According to the Express and Star, Wolverhampton are looking to sign another striker but ruled out the signing of Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey and free agent striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.  Chief executive Jez Moxey said,

“It’s a ‘no’ on those two … There probably won’t be any developments until tomorrow, if anything at all. But we’re still working on a possible incoming deal.”

UPDATE: According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne on a season-long loan.

August 10th, 2010: According to Bill Howell at the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton want to sign only sign Michael Mancienne on loan. Manager Mick McCarthy said,

“We won’t be buying him. And they want to sell him. If they were loaning him out again then that’s a different matter altogether … I haven’t discussed it with Chelsea. From my understanding they want to sell him and he’s asked for a transfer.

‘‘They want to sell him rather than loan him … I’ve got no understanding but I would be interested if they want to loan him out, of course I would, but that’s up to them.”

June 29th, 2010: According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton want to sign Mancienne but will not wait around forever. Manager Mick McCarthy said,

“We’re still looking and there might be something … I’ve been asked by the press about Michael Mancienne. We’ve gone out and done some business now with signing a centre-half.

“I can’t hang around waiting for decisions to be made which might be negative and then I lose the players I’ve been looking at … So I don’t know what will happen with that one.”

June 24th, 2010: According to the Express and Star, Wolverhampton owner Steve Morgan would love to sign Chelsea defender/midfielder Michael Mancienne if he becomes available. Morgan said,

According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton defender George Elokobi signed a new three-year deal with the club with a further one-year club option.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton midfielder David Jones rejected a new contract offer from the club. Jones currently has 12 months left on his contract. Chief executive Jez Moxey said,

“We’ve had a number of amicable discussions over the summer about extending David’s contract but we’ve been unable to reach agreement … Both sides are relaxed about the situation and remain open-minded about the future.

“David is committed to his role in helping the team do as well as possible, hopefully building on last season’s successful campaign, and will continue to give his all … Likewise, the club is committed to David as a player and, subject to the manager’s view, we fully expect him to feature in the team.”

“The conversations with the club have been amicable and although we have yet to reach an agreement, I’m really excited for the new Premier League season.”

According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton striker Sam Vokes has joined Bristol City on loan until Christmas.

According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton striker Stefan Maierhofer has joined German club MSV Duisburg on a season-long loan.

According to the Express and Star, Charleroi winger Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, who is currently on a season-long loan at Wolverhampton, stated that he wants to permanently stay at the club. Bia said,

UPDATE: According to Stuart Rayner at The Journal, the loan deal for Fraser Forster has been put on hold due to an injury to goalkeeper Steve Harper. Burnley manager Brian Laws said,

“It’s no secret that we are looking to bring in another goalkeeper and I think most people are aware Fraser Forster was our target … However, unfortunately due to an injury at Newcastle, it’s not possible to move that on at the moment.

“We understand Newcastle’s predicament and they can’t let Fraser leave until they have assessed that situation … We are waiting to see how that develops but clearly we may have to look at alter-natives to strengthen our goalkeeping area with the new season less than three weeks away.”

July 19th, 2010: According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Telegraph, Newcastle will be willing to loan out Fraser Forster to Burnley if he is made their number one goalkeeper.

July 16th, 2010: According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Telegraph, Burnley are still interested in Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster but will have to wait next week to possibly sign a deal. Burnley manager Brian Laws said,

“Everything has been agreed, but there is a hiccup at his parent club that needs to be resolved and we hope that can happen soon.”

June 22nd, 2010 According to Suzanne Geldard at the Lancashire Telegraph, Burnley are interested in signing Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a season-long loan.

Burnley had asked about signing Wolverhampton goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on loan for the season but manager Mick McCarthy was only willing to loan him out for three months.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal have not made a bid for 26-year-old Wolverhampton striker Kevin Doyle. Wolves manager Mick McCarthy said,

”When Kevin said recently that he was pledging his future to Wolves it suddenly caused a stir … ‘The reality is that he was saying it to get everybody off his back … Leave him alone and let him play his football.

”Look, if Manchester United come in and offer the club £50 million and give him 200 grand a week, I can’t keep him … Then I’ll have to say ‘thanks, Kevin, all the best, see you.’

”But no, there’s not been any approach from Arsenal – I can’t be any straighter … Doyle will be a player for us unless someone comes in offering the earth, moon and stars for him.”

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton midfielder Dave Jones is set to sign a contract extension with the club. Jone had been linked with Bolton, Blackburn, and Newcastle but manager Mick McCarthy came out and denied these rumors. He said,

“I haven’t heard anything from anyone, not a scratch … I want Dave to stay. He’s got a year left on his contract and it’s the same as where we were in March – we’re trying to sort something out … Hopefully that will get done. I think it will be sorted out fairly quickly … We love having him and we want him to stay and be part of the squad.”

UPDATE: According to the Express and Star, Wolverhampton has placed a £2.5million price tag on Andy Keogh.

July 8th, 2010: According to the Express and Star, Wolverhampton striker Andy Keogh is drawing interest from several teams. Barnsley and Leeds United are both interested in the 24-year-old but have not been able to agree on a fee. However Doncaster is reportedly interested in signing Keogh on loan if the club allows it.

According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey signed a new five-year deal with the club that will keep him there until the summer of 2015.

UPDATE: According to Hull City’s official website, Wolverhampton have signed Hull City defender Steven Mouyokolo for an undisclosed fee. Mouyokolo signed a four-year deal with the club.

June 16th, 2010 According to the Express & Star, Wolverhampton are all set to announce the signing of Hull City defender Steven Mouyokolo. Stoke City were interested in him as well but the 23-year-old decided to join Wolves instead. The deal could be worth around £2.5million.

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne will not make his loan deal permanently with Wolverhampton. When asked if he would stay full-time, Mancienne said,

“I don’t think so. I am definitely going back to Chelsea. I want to try and fight for my place … I think I have a good chance of getting (in the team) … I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing, and keep playing well, and then I think I’ll give myself a bigger opportunity of playing in that team.”

“I am enjoying playing week in and week out. That is what I need to better myself and improve as a footballer because I can’t sit on the bench and improve … I think I made the right decision (coming to Wolves). Coming to Wolves has improved me as a player. I am playing regular football in the best league in the world.”
